  5. Running GCprevue for the first time
  6. -----------------------------------

  8. by now you should have read the files Readme_1st,GCinstall
  9. and should have a copy of gcprevue on your PC
  10.  
  11. start pc and get to a dos prompt
  12. start a mouse driver if needed (type mouse at prompt)
  13.  
  14. Make sure your in the directory C:\GCPREVUE and type prevu (not prevue)
  15.  
  16. you should now have the main gcprevue screen displayed
  17.  
  18. using the cursor keys highlight the word Apertures and press return
  19.  
  20. now type RISC.APR and press the ESC key
  21.  
  22. using the cursor keys highlight the word Drills and press return
  23.  
  24. now type RISC.RCK and press the ESC key
  25.  
  26. press ESC again and you will be asked if you want to quit GC-PREVUE
  27.  
  28. press return to confirm
  29.  
  30. you will now be asked to save the system configuration
  31.  
  32. press return to confirm
  33.  
  34. press return again to save file as DEFAULT.PED
  35.  
  36. press return to overwrite old DEFAULT.PED
  37.  
  38. press return again 
  39.  
  40. the program should now have quit

  43. YOU HAVE NOW SETUP GCPREVUE TO USE THE  RISC.APR APERTURES & RISC.RCK DRILLS

  71. USING GCPREVUE WITH DEMO FILES

  74. start pc and get to a dos prompt

  79. you should now have the main gcprevue screen displayed

  81. PRESS RETURN
  82.  
  83. PRESS F10 KEY
  84.  
  85. NOW TYPE C:\GCPREVUE\GERBER  and then press return
  86.  
  87. a file list should now appear each time you press SPACE a file will highlight
  88. COMPSIDE
  89. DRILL
  90. GROUND
  91. MASK
  92. SILK
  93. SOLDER
  94.  
  95. highlight all these files in the list and then press RETURN
  96.  
  97. use cursor keys to go to top of this list which should be 
  98. C:\gcprevue\gerber\compside
  99.  
  100. Press the F1 KEY
  101.  
  102. Press return with gerber highlighted
  103.  
  104. NOW TYPE 1-6 next to the word layers and press return
  105.  
  106. GCPREVUE will now load the gerber demo files
  107.  
  108. you will now be asked to save plotter definition changes 
  109.  
  110. Press N

  112. you should now return to the main screen.

  114. Press F2 KEY the demo board should now be redrawn
  115.  
  116. hold the ALT key and the = key this will zoom in to fill screen
  117.  
  118. at the moment you have all layers on so it looks a bit of a mess!

  136. Press the S key 
  137.  
  138. The status window is displayed use cursor keys to move around
  139.  
  140. each layer should look something like a01 V+ C:\GCPREVUE\GERBER\COMPSIDE
  141.  
  142. move to the a01 of the drill file and press R when you move away from
  143. the drill file you will be asked to change aperture list answer YES
  144.  
  145. if you move onto the V+ of each layer you can make them V visible
  146. or H for hide
  147.  
  148. hide all layers except the drill,compside,ground layers
  149.  
  150. if you now go to the + of the ground layer and press - to make it a
  151. negative layer.
  152.  
  153. now move to the drill layer and press F8
  154.  
  155. press return to put the drill layer at the top of the list
  156.  
  157. press the ESC key the board will now be redrawn 
  158.  
  159. you are now looking at the compside of a double sided board
  160.  
  161. press ESC key twice to return tp previous menu
  162.  
  163. TIPS

  166. you can save the board as a gcprevue file by pressing F6
  167.  
  168. and you can load a gcprevue file by pressing F7 in the main startup screen.

  170. Pressing CTRL M in the different windows will bring up a menu of 
  171. possible keys
