- Running GCprevue for the first time

- by now you should have read the files Readme_1st,GCinstall
- and should have a copy of gcprevue on your PC
-
- start pc and get to a dos prompt
- start a mouse driver if needed (type mouse at prompt)
-
- Make sure your in the directory C:\GCPREVUE and type prevu (not prevue)
-
- you should now have the main gcprevue screen displayed
-
- using the cursor keys highlight the word Apertures and press return
-
- now type RISC.APR and press the ESC key
-
- using the cursor keys highlight the word Drills and press return
-
- now type RISC.RCK and press the ESC key
-
- press ESC again and you will be asked if you want to quit GC-PREVUE
-
- press return to confirm
-
- you will now be asked to save the system configuration
-
- press return to confirm
-
- press return again to save file as DEFAULT.PED
-
- press return to overwrite old DEFAULT.PED
-
- press return again
-
- the program should now have quit
-

- USING GCPREVUE WITH DEMO FILES
- ------------------------------

- start pc and get to a dos prompt
- start a mouse driver if needed (type mouse at prompt)

- Make sure your in the directory C:\GCPREVUE and type prevu (not prevue)

- you should now have the main gcprevue screen displayed
-
- PRESS RETURN
-
- PRESS F10 KEY
-
- NOW TYPE C:\GCPREVUE\GERBER and then press return
-
- a file list should now appear each time you press SPACE a file will highlight
- COMPSIDE
- DRILL
- GROUND
- MASK
- SILK
- SOLDER
-
- highlight all these files in the list and then press RETURN
-
- use cursor keys to go to top of this list which should be
- C:\gcprevue\gerber\compside
-
- Press the F1 KEY
-
- Press return with gerber highlighted
-
- NOW TYPE 1-6 next to the word layers and press return
-
- GCPREVUE will now load the gerber demo files
-
- you will now be asked to save plotter definition changes
-
- Press N
-
- you should now return to the main screen.
-
- Press F2 KEY the demo board should now be redrawn
-
- hold the ALT key and the = key this will zoom in to fill screen
-
- at the moment you have all layers on so it looks a bit of a mess!
-

- Press the S key
-
- The status window is displayed use cursor keys to move around
-
- each layer should look something like a01 V+ C:\GCPREVUE\GERBER\COMPSIDE
-
- move to the a01 of the drill file and press R when you move away from
- the drill file you will be asked to change aperture list answer YES
-
- if you move onto the V+ of each layer you can make them V visible
- or H for hide
-
- hide all layers except the drill,compside,ground layers
-
- if you now go to the + of the ground layer and press - to make it a
- negative layer.
-
- now move to the drill layer and press F8
-
- press return to put the drill layer at the top of the list
-
- press the ESC key the board will now be redrawn
-
- you are now looking at the compside of a double sided board
-
- press ESC key twice to return tp previous menu
-
- TIPS
- ----

- you can save the board as a gcprevue file by pressing F6
-
- and you can load a gcprevue file by pressing F7 in the main startup screen.
-
- Pressing CTRL M in the different windows will bring up a menu of
- possible keys
-
